If your spreads change, you’ll be able to see this in your trading platform. If there’s decreased liquidity in the market, we might switch trading on low-liquidity instruments to “Close Only” or close all trading on these instruments.
Forex Market Trading Hours
The forex market is open 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday, with trading activity moving across global financial centres as one session closes and another opens.
There are four major forex trading sessions, all based on UTC (Coordinated Universal Time):
- Sydney: 9:00 PM – 6:00 AM UTC
- Tokyo: 12:00 AM – 9:00 AM UTC
- London: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM UTC
- New York: 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM UTC
Market activity varies by session. Sydney and Tokyo are typically quieter, while London is the most active. Volatility often increases during the London–New York overlap, creating more trading opportunities.
